Janhavi (She/Her) is an independent visual artist from India, with a background of Journalism and Modern and Contemporary Indian Art from Mumbai University. She is presently examining the broader themes of ecofeminism, maternal histories and memories through her practice. She experiments with various media and materials that persist a layer of socio-political and cultural contexts in her work, and uses the tools of performativity, and fiction to recreate the deliberately contributions made by women in the disciplines of sustenance and preservation.

She believes her work is largely collaborative with her immediate surroundings; and her process of making involves a lot of listening, and understanding of the geopolitical and gendered realities that exist within spaces both domestic and environmental.

She is presently earning her MFA Fine Art from Nottingham Trent University. She experiments with various media and materials that persist a layer of socio-political and cultural contexts in her work, and uses the tools of performativity, and fiction to recreate the deliberately NEGLECTED contributions made by women in the disciplines of sustenance and preservation.
